SIGVARIS, global leader in graduated compression socks and DVT prevention advocate, announces pro-basketball player Carl Landry endorses Active Therapy Socks

Medically endorsed SIGVARIS proudly announces its endorsement by pro-basketball star Carl Landry.

PEACHTREE CITY, GA – SIGVARIS is pleased to announce that Carl Landry, Sacramento forward, has become a fan of SIGVARIS’ Active Therapy Line prompting him to become an official endorser of SIGVARIS’ athletic socks.

“It’s exciting for SIGVARIS that professional athletes worldwide have seen for themselves the value of wearing true graduated compression,” says Jason Kern, product manager of SIGVARIS North America. “It’s rewarding to see high profile players like Carl Landry, Soccer’s Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, Joseph Addai (running back for the Indianapolis Colts) and Michael Turner (running back for the Atlanta Falcons) endorsing our socks. We are thrilled that we could use what we have learned by being the global leader in medical compression therapy to help athletes.”

The use of compression wear is a growing trend in athletics. Wearing true graduated compression, compression that is tightest at the ankle, during and after exercise or competition can help flush out lactic acid and provide symptomatic relief of delayed onset leg muscle soreness. SIGVARIS manufactures both a Performance Sock and an Athletic Recovery Sock to help athletes peak their performance and speed up their recovery time!

“After 40-plus minutes against some of the top athletes in the world, nothing feels better on the long ride home than my SIGVARIS Athletic Recovery socks,” Landry says. “I have used similar products in the past, but they didn’t help my legs after a game like these do. I am excited to be partnering with SIGVARIS because I know other athletes that try these socks are going to experience great results.”

SIGVARIS created http://www.athleticrecoverysock.com and http://www.performancesock.com to provide consumers with information about the socks in the Active Therapy line.

SIGVARIS enters into partnership with NETS Basketball, supplying the NBA team with Active Therapy Socks!

SIGVARIS is very pleased to announce that it will be supplying NETS Basketball with Active Therapy Socks for the team’s 2010-2011 basketball season.

PEACHTREE CITY, GA – SIGVARIS, the global leader of graduated compression garments and ardent advocate for DVT prevention, will supply NETS Basketball with socks from their Active Therapy line for training, recovery and travel.

A growing trend among competitive athletes and weekend warriors, professional sports athletes are using compression socks during and after performance events to improve their results. When a sportsperson slips on a SIGVARIS Active Therapy sock, he or she is benefiting from the science behind “true graduated compression” – compression that is strongest at the ankle and gradually diminishes as it goes up the leg.

“True graduated compression” helps fight the force of gravity and circulate blood back to the heart and lungs more efficiently. When blood is properly circulated, it provides much-needed oxygen and nutrients to tired muscles that have been, or are being, deprived during a workout. In addition to improved circulation, wearing compression during and after strenuous exercise or competition may help flush out lactic acid and provide symptomatic relief of delayed onset leg muscle soreness.

In addition to NETS Basketball, SIGVARIS has partnerships in place with the Atlanta Falcons and the Indianapolis Colts NFL teams for the 2010 and 2011 football seasons. SIGVARIS, through the Athletic Recovery line of socks, already has established several strategic partnerships with established sports organizations in North America, such as: Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), USProTri, Southern Crescent Cycling Club, and Cross Country Canada (CCC-skiing).

SIGVARIS created www.activetherapysock.com to provide consumers with information on all the socks in the Active Therapy line. The current products in the line include the Athletic Recovery Sock, the Performance Sock and the Cotton Golf Sock.

SIGVARIS Provides “Red Socks” to Honor Efforts by Boston Red Sox Manager, Terry Francona, to Raise Awareness for DVT Prevention

SIGVARIS, the global leader in medical compression therapy, has teamed up with the North American Thrombosis Forum and Boston Red Sox Manager and blood clot survivor, Terry Francona, to raise awareness about the dangers of blood clots.

Did you know that every year more people die from blood clots than from breast cancer, AIDS and car accidents combined? That’s why SIGVARIS, the global leader in medical compression stockings and socks, is working to educate people about DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) prevention.

In an effort to help raise awareness, SIGVARIS will provide “red socks” to those attending the North American Thrombosis Forum’s Celebration of Gratitude honoring Terry Francona, Boston Red Sox Manager and blood clot survivor in early November.

“SIGVARIS became the global leader in medical compression therapy by caring about the health of the people that wear our products. We wanted to help raise awareness about the dangers of DVT because many people develop blood clots in their leg. As a company, we strive to help people have healthy legs, and our DVT prevention campaign allows us to fulfill our mission to educate everyone about how to keep their legs healthy,” says Judith Brannan, SIGVARIS Medical Affairs & Education Manager.

The event this November, in conjunction with the North American Thrombosis Form, is yet another effort in SIGVARIS’ mission to provide awareness in the community about DVT prevention.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the following tips for DVT prevention:

  • Move around as soon as possible after surgery, illness or injury
  • Those at risk for DVT should talk to their doctor about graduated compression stockings and medication (anticoagulants) to prevent or treat DVT
  • When traveling or sitting for more than four hours get up and walk around every few hours and exercise legs while sitting.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes
  • Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol or caffeine
  • Exercise regularly
  • Maintain a healthy weight and don’t smoke

SIGVARIS Announces the Introduction of a New Sock in the Active Therapy Series— the Performance Sock!

SIGVARIS is pleased to announce that its Active Therapy line is sporting a brand new product – the SIGVARIS Performance Sock! The Performance Sock was designed to complement the popular Athletic Recovery Sock.

PEACHTREE CITY, GA – Medically endorsed SIGVARIS is proud to announce the release of the SIGVARIS Performance Sock into the U.S. Market. The launch marks the latest addition to the Active Therapy line, designed for competitive athletes and weekend warriors.

SIGVARIS’ Athletic Recovery has been extremely popular since it launched last year. Now athletes will not only be able to improve their recovery time, they’ll also be able to peak their performance with the launch of SIGVARIS’ newest sock.

“Having been the global leader in medical compression therapy for the past 50 years, SIGVARIS is at the forefront of creating the most effective compression products,” says Jonas Thelin, director of marketing for SIGVARIS North America. “It made sense for us to enter the sports market because the use of compression is such a huge topic in sports right now, and we had an opportunity to create truly superior sports compression socks. Our Active Therapy line was designed to optimize an athlete’s athletic performance as well as speed up post-workout recovery time.”

When a sportsperson slips on a SIGVARIS Active Therapy sock, he or she is benefiting from the science behind “true graduated compression” – compression that is strongest at the ankle and gradually diminishes as it goes up the leg. Unlike the SIGVARIS Performance Sock, most sports products do not feature “true graduated compression.”

“True graduated compression” helps fight the force of gravity and circulate blood back to the heart and lungs more efficiently. When blood is properly circulated it provides much-needed oxygen and nutrients to tired muscles that have been, or are being, deprived during a workout.

In addition to improved circulation, wearing compression during and after strenuous exercise or competition may help flush out lactic acid and also provide symptomatic relief of delayed onset leg muscle soreness.

The Performance Sock, which has already launched in Europe, is rapidly gaining popularity among athletes and weekend warriors alike. Features of the sock include:

• True graduated compression (20-30mmHg)
• An extra-wide comfort band that stays in place without digging into the skin
• Safety reflectors for running at night
• Achilles Tendon protectors to reduce vibration on vulnerable ligaments
• A cushioned foot bed design to help keep feet blister free
• High-tech fibers for thermal and odor control – sock stays perfectly dry

SIGVARIS created http://www.performancesock.com and http://www.AthleticRecoverySock.com to provide consumers with information on the company’s sport socks in the Active Therapy line.

David O’Meara, The One Mile Runner, says, “I have been wearing compression socks for better athletic performance and improved recovery over the last couple of years. The Active Therapy socks from SIGVARIS are absolutely amazing! The socks have helped me increase my running speed and decrease my recovery time…From the airplane to the race, SIGVARIS is an essential piece of equipment for me to succeed in difficult conditions.”

Like O’Meara, many athletes have discovered the importance of wearing “true graduated compression.” SIGVARIS has partnerships in place with the Indianapolis Colts and the Atlanta Falcons for the 2010-2011 seasons. SIGVARIS will supply both NFL teams with socks for training, practice and travel.

SIGVARIS, through the Active Therapy line of socks, also has several strategic partnerships in place with established endurance sports organizations in North America, including: Road Runner’s Club of America (RRCA), USProTri, Southern Crescent Cycling Club, and Cross Country Canada (CCC-skiing).
